The method is compatible with high-density microwell plate format, easy to use, and allows creating complex hierarchical in-vitro models

HDAX Therapeutics is developing targeted therapeutics for the treatment of brain cancers and neurodegenerative disorders, by selectively targeting the disease driver protein HDAC6 in the brain. For these unmet needs that have no rationally designed therapy to this day, HDAX has been able to overcome traditional challenges of drugs such as weak binding, off-target toxicities, and poor pharmacokinetic profiles. Furthermore, HDAX has engineered brain penetrating HDAC6 drugs, a rarity in this space, allowing the targeting of brain disease in areas unreachable to current clinical drugs and competitors

Since 2014 our team has been developing products that improve people’s lives using state-of-the-art neurotechnologies such as brain-computer interfaces (BCI). We work in worldwide partnership with leading science and clinical institutions. Besides technology and neuroscience development, since 2015 our team has been a major contributor to the organization of the renowned annual international conference BCI: Science & Practice.

One in six people are affected by stroke; annually 500,000 have spinal cord injury. As a result, more than 120 million worldwide live paralyzed, 6 million of them - in North America. Yet, many largely immobilized patients do not receive the necessary scope of rehabilitation due to their limited mobility and lack of appropriate means.

AiimSense develops portable head scanners to improve the outcome of patients with stroke and traumatic brain injury through quick triage and real-time monitoring. With AiimSense cost-efficient imaging devices, hospitals can turn expensive, and specialized procedures into routine, preventative care.

Flora Bioworks is developing the first-ever gut microbiome capable of delivering clinically actionable results. Using machine learning and next-generation sequencing techniques, Flora Bioworks identified a signature of microbial species in the human gut that yields a strong predictor of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease – the leading global cause of death. Flora Bioworks translated this discovery to develop a microbiome-centric diagnostic test for cardiovascular disease, currently in the prototype phase. Compared to existing gold-standard diagnostic tests, Flora Bioworks gives clinicians the option to robustly screen patients without having them step foot in a clinic. Beyond heart health, Flora Bioworks is pioneering methods to support clinical decision-making in diagnosing and treating microbiome-associated cancers and neuropsychiatric diseases. Flora Bioworks is supported by the University of Toronto, the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, St. Michael’s Hospital, and McMaster University.

Goji Technology Systems Inc. is a health technology company that makes it easier for clinicians to deal with their computers in healthcare. Gojitech’s software simply sits as an agent on existing digital solutions making it easier for clinicians to deal with their digital systems using voice commands and touchless gestures powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Essentially, the clinicians can simply use voice commands to automate data entry, data selection, and other routine actions (for example, prescribing, progress notes, consult notes, ordering tests, competing forms, referrals, and booking appointments among others). No more "death by 1000 clicks", no more manual data entry, and significant time saving (around 1-2 hours per day) and new revenues (convert the saved time to more revenue generating patient visits or simply time away). In the global pandemic or in sterile clinical environments, Gojitech’s touchless gestures is a key feature that allows clinicians who have webcams to interact with their digital systems without having to take their gloves and such off - saving time and money and reduction in surface infections.

Dahlia believes that people who menstruate deserve period products that are progressive, intuitive, comfortable and convenient. The suite of products currently in development have the aforementioned items kept at the fore, while also striving to ensure that the products remain inclusive and environmentally friendly. Dahlia is currently developing a menstrual cup that has been re-designed alongside anatomy experts to be optimized for comfort and fit, along with a simple and discreet applicator and removal tool. To ensure for utmost convenience, Dahlia is also optimizing the cleaning and storage process for their products.

Kultura Diagnostics provides an integrated easy-to-use medical device and digital therapeutic solution for clinicians and patients to diagnose and manage gluten sensitivities. The two-part solution uses a) a breath-based sensor to increase timely diagnosis and b) a proprietary machine learning algorithm to provide customized recommendations to manage gastrointestinal health, improve quality of life, and reduce long-term costs to the health system. We are a majority women-owned international team with experience in business, med tech, chemical engineering, medicine, and artificial intelligence.

Toothpod is an innovative startup working with the University of Toronto Dental  Faculty towards improving oral hygiene by making oral health upkeep convenient. It is developing a smart chewable that cleans the mouth and remineralizes the enamel, which can be consumed on the go. Thus, Toothpods help in reducing the incidence of cavities, a problem which affects 96% of Canadians and costs the economy 40 million work hours per annum. By makes oral hygiene convenient and portable, thus people can take care of their teeth and smiles when they're outside of home, and it will reduce the burden of oral decay at a micro and macro economic level.

At Tenomix, our mission is to develop novel technologies that target inefficiencies in the pathology workflow, optimize cancer care and reduce healthcare costs. Our dedicated team of engineers, medical doctors, and clinical scientists is currently working on Tenomix's flagship device, which autonomously searches for lymph nodes in resected cancer tissues and marks their locations for efficient extraction. This bench-top device replaces the existing tedious and unreliable manual lymph node finding process and greatly improves the speed and reliability of the cancer staging process. This enables clinicians to make better-informed treatment decisions, resulting in fewer patient complications and fatalities and ensures hospitals continuously meet their quality metrics.
